What is medical restorative massage therapy? |
Medical restorative massage therapy is the
advanced practice of actively applying blended
massage therapy techniques to help reduce pain
and restore physical function within the
structure of a medical model.
Medical restorative massage begins with an
assessment of the client’s current condition.
Based on the initial assessment, a customized
plan of care is developed and executed for each
client.
The foundation of the discipline is an in-depth
understanding of the human body, and how it
responds to specific massage therapy techniques.

How Long Will It
Take? |
The first visit, or prime appointment, takes
ninety minutes. This includes the assessment
process and the first massage.
Subsequent visits take sixty minutes.
We ask all clients to be on-time for their
appointments so we stay on schedule throughout
the day. This minimizes unnecessary waiting
time for clients and therapists, and the Clinic
operates an “on-time” schedule virtually every
day.

How
is medical restorative massage therapy different
from health club or spa massages? |
Medical restorative massage is focused on
reducing pain and restoring physical function,
and the therapy only involves the parts of the
body that impact the client’s dysfunction.
Medical
restorative massage is also based on written
plans of care, and therapists maintain charts
and records in order to track each client’s
progress against their plan of care. Therapists
also routinely prepare and submit reports to
physicians and insurance companies regarding a
client’s progress and status versus their plan
of care.
